“Almost your own Dominican Family!”
Jan 25, 2009
I spent a week at Casa de las Anas in January 2009. It was a GREAT experience.
Julia
and AnaMaria were very kind and welcoming, their home is very
comfortable. They really make an effort to help you to get to know the
Dominican people. I went there for rest and relaxation and they were
really supportive of that. But, they were also very ready to help you,
by connecting you with their friends or family, to do anything you
would want in Moncion (or the Dominican Republic). Julia cooks really
great Dominican food so it is a great opportunity to get to know true
Dominican food. It is also a great opportunity to practice your Spanish
as it is located in a place where you have to use your Spanish. Again,
Julia, AnaMaria and their friends and family are VERY supportive as you
develop your Spanish skills. The home is located a “bus ride or two”
(but a comfortable, easy trip) from Santiago in a place in which there
are few (actually no) other tourists, so you really get a taste of real
Dominican life (the people in Moncion are so friendly).
Anita,
in the US, will help you sort out anything (down to how much the bus
costs, how long each segment of the trip is, and the instructions you
need to tell the bus drivers to get you where you need to go) you need
before you leave so you are well prepared for your trip.
Without question I would recommend a stay at Casa de las Anas, I am sure I will be back in the future.
"Wonderful Stay" Jan 8, 2008
My experience staying at the Casa de las Anas has been absolutely
great. I stayed for almost three weeks and felt so comfortable and
welcome by the Anas as well as the community and everybody who knew
them! If you are looking for the experience of escaping the big city
and staying in a small place that feels like home even though it's your
first time there, this is definitely the place. Both Anas are very warm
and caring and you can tell how much they care for the place and your
experience! Very much recommended!!
